Cafes & Cathedrals, Part 2

  • Redfern Town Hall 73 Pitt Street Redfern, NSW, 2016 Australia (map)

With Baroque Flute & Recorder player, Mikaela Oberg

In November we present the second instalment of a unique
musical journey through the coffee houses and cathedrals of 17th
century Germany. We are putting the spotlight on the mystical
and mesmerizing music that came before J.S. Bach, the Stylus
Phantasticus. This virtuosic, highly improvised and uninhibited music
influenced J.S.Bach who travelled 300 km to see it performed by the
famous Buxtehude. As well as works by this famous organist we
finish with a performance of Johann Sebastian’s B minor Orchestral
Suite performed by the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra’s dazzling
traverso player, Mikaela Oberg.
